So there I am! Living it up in my 30-somethings with a ridiculously hot hubby, 3 seriously outgoing matter-of-fact smart beautiful kids, a cat named Roxii that just won't quit, 2 chihuahuas named Lokii (what was I thinking) and Brodii who don't understand the concept of pee outside.

I'm a strongly opinionated, outspoken, inappropriate and absolutely unapologetic chick going through this thing called life and trying to do it with my sanity intact. So far, this isn't working out so well!

REVIEW: SodaStream a House Favourite

During one of my many, many trips to Walmart I happened upon a this amazing ultimate "kitchen gadget" (as my hubby calls them) that I had never seen before. I looked it over for almost 10 minutes sitting on one of the end caps in the appliances section, but kind of shrugged and carried along. During the rest of my shop however, I kept coming back to it again and thinking hmm, but it looked SO cool!!!

I left Walmart that day without buying it, came home and pulled up the SodaStream Canada website and researched it a bit more. I showed the kids, I bugged my husband and even had my bff take a look at it as well.

Fast forward to the following day and I had some excuse for going back to Walmart again, and again I made my way over to the SodaStream display. I went through all the delicious flavours and finally said I had to have one. I left the store armed with a new machine, a 12 pack variety sampler and a full size Root Beer and Gingerale just because I could.

Now I don't consider myself a soda connoisseur by any means, but we've definitely had a few (ok HUNDREDS) of cases/bottles of pop come into this house over the years, and with that in mind I think I am seasoned enough if you will, to tell you that this machine is beyond amazing. I mean, HOMEMADE POP?!?!

Each sodastream cylinder makes about 60L of pop. 60! After that you just need to recycle (cause green is best) your cylinders and either exchange through the website at a cheaper price, or from what I have just found out through my trusty Walmart, is that they do cylinder exchanges for cheaper right in store! Score!

The bottles of syrup will make about 12L which is great for the price of under $7 for the flavours that we seem to like best. The reason I say "about 12L" is because the end result with flavour in terms of sweetness (and in carbonation if you want to get right down to it) is totally up to you which that in itself has made this entire purchase worth it.

What else makes this worth it? Carry on...

1. The variety of flavours. With everything from Root Beer (which those I've let taste says it's very similar to A&W's root beer), Gingerale, Cola, Sugar Free Cola, Pink Grapefruit, Diet Drinks, Colas and "Fruit" drinks, Iced Tea and a big family favourite Cream Soda. The website has a complete listing of available flavours so you can see all there is to choose from.

2. The number of grams of sugar in a serving when compared to popular brands. Example of this would be a Pepsi has 41g of sugar per can, where a SodaStream mix of Cola (not even the diet) has a whoppin 9g...9!!! That in itself is one of the main reasons I even considered this purchase. With having young kids that I don't let indulge in the art of pop drinking very often, it's a special treat in this house, it was a HUGE relief to see that I could absolutely share this with them and not have to worry about mass quantities of sugar. Yes they are still having some but some is better than almost 5 times as much.

3. Environmentally this makes sense when it comes to bottles upon bottles and cans as well going through my house with cases/bottles being bought. The SodaStreams bottle that comes with the system is reusable for up to 3 YEARS. You can also buy additional bottles if you want to store multiple bottles OR have multiple children like me who fight over whose turn it is to take a drink.

4. Drink recipes. Whether you are entertaining adults or just your own children there is something for everyone that can be made using this for sure.

Some of the fantastic benefits that sell it themselves...

Well, to that I just have one more thing to say besides the obvious of go out and get one cause you won't be sorry and that would be...CHEERS! :)
